Teachers' Day

Saksham Mathur, age 9, is a student of Grade IV at Anand Niketan International School, Satellite Campus, Ahmedabad. He loves his school and his teachers. He is an avid reader and enjoys cooking. This poem is about his favourite teacher, Ms. Rutvi Mehta, who teaches Social Studies.

Gaurav Mathur, 41, lives in Ahmedabad with his wife, Poonam, and son, Saksham. He practises law. He studied in Kendriya Vidyalaya No.1, Shahibaug, Ahmedabad from 1987 to 1992, after which he did his graduation in BA (Hons.) Economics from University of Rajasthan and law from Maharani Laxmi Bai Arts and Commerce College, Gwalior.

Lovely Gervasis is a Superintendent of Central Excise at Ahmedabad. Born in 1967 at Jaipur, she did her schooling from St. Angela Sophia Higher Secondary School and graduation in Science with Zoology and Chemistry from Maharani’s College, Jaipur.

Gauri Mathur is a Class IX student at Maharaja Sawai Man Singh Vidyalaya, Jaipur. This is a bold contrarian thought by a 14 year old. We appreciate the independent edge.

Krishnaswamy Kesavan was born and brought up in a small village and studied in a small town, Kumbakonam, Distt. Tanjore where he attended Native High School. After engineering and management studies he worked in an MNC as Business In charge and technical head for about 29 years and headed a large team. Later he started his own enterprise manufacturing activities making some high end engineering products for domestic sales and export abroad for the last 25 years.

Avinash Gaur passed out from St. Xaviers, Jaipur in 1961. He graduated in Chemical Engineering from Banaras Hindu University in 1967 and completed his post graduation in the same subject from University of Washington, Seattle, USA in 1970. After 37 years of service in private industry, Avinash retired as Whole Time Director in 2004.

Shrishti Malhotra is a Class VIII student at DPS School Bopal, Ahmedabad. This is about her favourite teacher, Mr. Achal Joshi, who teaches dance.

Piyali Kanabar is a teacher straight from the heart. She served Bhavan's Bhagwandas Purohit Vidya Mandir as a teacher for over two decades. She presently runs an institute in Nagpur catering to soft skills training and personality grooming called 'So What? A Center For Counseling and Professional Perfection'. She trains students, professionals and housewives in spoken English. She trains students for examinations like the IELTS, GRE, GMAT, PTE, SAT, TOEFL and CAT.

Rajeev Doshi retired as Senior Intelligence Officer from the Department of Customs and Central Excise. Upon superannuation Rajeev lives in Petlad Gujarat with his wife Arti. Rajeev began his career with Food Corporation Of India in 1972 before joining the Central Govt in 1982. Most his education took place in Bhuj, Gujarat. He’s very proud of his school, Shree Swami Narayan Vidhyalaya, Bhuj.
