Civil Servants

Subhash Mathur was born and brought up in small towns in Rajasthan. During his school and college education at Jaipur, he was keenly involved in sports, journalism and public speaking. His civil services career has given him a platform for spreading his ideas about modernising tax administration to benefit the common man. Post retirement he is devoting his energies, along with his wife Tilak, to public and humane causes.

Mahesh Bhushan Vijh was born in 1964 in a defense officer's family. His childhood was spent on various Air Force station camps in India. After his father's retirement, the family took up residence in Delhi and effectively has been resident in the National Capital Region (NCR) for the last 42 years.

In 1989 Mahesh wed Ruma, an art teacher in a reputed school. Mahesh and Ruma were blessed with a daughter who is a qualified jewelry designer, and a son who once played cricket for state of Delhi and is now pursuing his career in travel and tourism.

Being in a respectable government job allowed Mahesh to pursue his passion for Vedic Jyotish and then teach the subject for 5 yrs. Later on, he started doing marathons, walkathons and trekking.

Mahesh feels that life today is at an exciting stage and he strives to live it to its fullest.

I. C. Srivastava was born in 1943. A student of English Literature, he joined the Indian Administrative Service in 1966. During his 37 year tenure, he served as Collector/ District Magistrate of three districts, rising to the position of Chairman, Board of Revenue, Rajasthan.

Shri Srivastava worked as Secretary/Principal Secretary of as many as 17 Rajasthan State Departments, including Revenue, Irrigation, Education, Culture, Tourism, Sports, and Women & Child Development Department. He retired as Chairman, Rajasthan State Mines and Minerals Corporation.

Shri Srivastava has authored several books on Administration & Current affairs in Hindi and English. Nowadays, he is associated with various social and cultural voluntary organisations in Jaipur.

Born in 1967, Ashok Kumar had his initial schooling in Bulandshahar, UP and Delhi. Ashok graduated from M M H College, Ghaziabad, UP in B.Sc. Biology. He joined Indian Customs in 1991 at Mumbai. He is a recipient of the President Award in year 2012 for meritorious services in the field of intelligence and investigations.

Presently Ashok is working as Assistant Commissioner of Customs at Chennai. In addition to his office work he is also passionate about Cycling, Tracking, Marathons, Badminton, Bird Photography but the love of his life is writing poetry in Hindi.

Ashok's wife, Pushpa, is a marathon runner and a regular participant. Recently she has completed 100 km in a day challenge organised by Pinkathon at Ambey Valley. Their son, Vaibhav, is an alumnus of National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad and at present working as Designer with VIP Industries Luggage Division. Their daughter, Swati, graduated in Mass Communication from Symbiosis, Pune and working with a NGO in Delhi.

Vinod Goel was born and brought up in the small town of Palwal, Haryana. He attended the Sainik School Balachadi in Jamnagar. In 1982, he joined the Indian Revenue Service (Customs and Central Excise).

Vivek Shrivastava was born and brought up in Jaipur. He is a Science graduate but chose to do his masters in Economics. He has a Diploma in Functional Urdu from the National Council for Promotion of Urdu Language (NCPUL). At present he's in the third year of his law degree.

Vivek joined the Central Board of Excise & Customs and is presently posted as Superintendent GST. His expertise lies in enforcement of laws relating to money laundering and foreign exchange. He is a visiting faculty for Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) and Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA) at the Rajasthan Police Academy and the Central Detective Training Institute, Jaipur.

Vivek is a prolific writer of poems and stories, many of which have already been published in various journals. He’s associated with several poetic forums. He presented his story ‘Tyakta’ at World Hindi Secretariat at Mauritius which won the third prize of $100 and numerous other felicitations.

Vivek's flair for writing and speaking is well noted and he often anchors high-end functions. He currently resides in Jaipur with his parents, his wife, Rashi, and children, Rudransh and Shivansh.

Jitendra Sanghvi joined the Customs Department in the year 1972 and took voluntary retirement in 2003 as Deputy Commissioner. He served as a faculty member at the National Academy of Customs and Central Excise Mumbai for 8 years. Upon voluntary retirement he started Sanjosh Consultants with two former colleagues. He was also a special counsel to Central Board of Excise and Customs. A keen sportsperson since childhood, he played cricket for his college, the Customs Cricket team and several clubs. He practises Vipassana and is a keen environmentalist.
